How to Look Older Than Your Friends
Folks: Do you seek sure-fire ways to guarantee you'll look older than your friends of the same age? Here's five ways to do it:
1.) Smoke like a freight train!
2.) Drink to excess!
3.) Bake your body in the sun!
4.) Refuse to get enough sleep!
5.) Work yourself to death!
For many, the warning signs on tobacco products do little to deter them from smoking! Never mind you increase your risk for cancer, heart disease, stroke, and early death. Smoking also ages you quickly! Often, deeply etched lines appear within a few years. Your skin has a grayish tint instead of a healthy glow, and
people actually believe you're years older than your age!
Recently, I spoke with a woman with a husky voice who reeked of cigarette smoke. She urged me to guess her age. (Ladies: Never ask a man to do this!) When I guessed 47--just to be kind, her smile disappeared from her cigarette scarred face. She was shocked I'd guess such a high number. She was 37--born the same year I
graduated from high school. You'd have thought I slapped her hard across the face! But seriously, I thought she was close to 55--my age!
Excessive drinking is another way to guarantee premature aging! We've all heard the joke that "everyone looks better at closing time", but few of us actually believe it. Not only is drinking like a fish dangerous to you, your body, and the lives of others, but it also also makes you look older before your time. Drink in moderation. If you can't, get help. Your loved ones will thank you for it.
Sure, it is attractive to have a healthy glow about you. Yet, drying out your skin without sun protection--whether outside or in a tanning bed--increases the risk of some cancers while "pruning" your skin. You want skin with a soft, not leathery texture.
In my college days, I was guilty of partying into the wee hours of the morning. I thought I could actually thrive on about three hours of sleep or less.
Wrong!
Sleep deprivation often causes fatigue, sexual issues, decreased circulation, lowered metabolism, insulin resistance, weight gain, depression, memory problems, headaches and migraines, greater pain sensitivity, and emotional instability. Many of these side effects lead to premature aging. Try to get 7.5 to 8 hours nightly. Your body and face will appreciate it.
I don't know about you, but I'm also guilty of working too much. I run my own business while tackling a second job until the money rolls in on a steady basis. As a result, I feel over-stressed while being prone to headaches and exhaustion. Studies have shown this often leads to heart attacks, heart disease, and other health-related issues. On top of that, you begin to look and feel older.
Every day, we are older than the day before. We can't do anything about time moving forward, but we can certainly do something about premature aging--starting today. Click here for more information.
